Accidental Imprisonment

Accidental Imprisonment

January 31, 2020 Posted by Liette Wilson 5 Comments

Today started out with some early morning excitement when Jim locked Karen on top of the water tower! I heard her yelling, ‘Help, I can’t get down’ as I was eating my breakfast and thought it was an elaborate prank, but no, she really was locked on the top of the tower.  Jim insists he thought she had already gone down after they had done an inspection of a broken tank. Sure, Jim, we believe you….

Prisoner on the tower.

The last few days have been busy ones working at the school to get the final students’ photos and letters. We are still missing a few who have been away due to illness and are hoping to find them this morning or Monday.  The hard work of cataloging all the the photos and scanning all the letters has begun and those will be sent out to sponsors as soon as we can.  We’ve also enjoyed the opportunity to give small gifts sent down by sponsors to some of the children. Their smiles are so beautiful!

We’ve also had seen some amazing sunrises along the canal, had some lovely walks with the kids, and lots of chalk-art fun with some particularly talented young artists. A couple of our older kids got dressed up for a school party and it was fun to see them looking like young adults!

As punishment for locking Karen on the tower, I’ll do my best to make Jim write the next blog!

I never knew Jim had a death wish. I can imagine what his to-do list is like after that caper. Markenson truly is an amazing talent… art and building and creativity. Well done with the photos and letters. Big job. Enjoy the walks but stay safe.

Sure Jim, we believe you accidentally locked Karen up there! Thousands wouldn’t BUT not a doubt here!?
What a big job you are doing with all the school photos and letters and then all the work after to get them together and emailed out to sponsors. No one knows ALL the work involved unless you have seen it done. I have never seen it from start to finish but what I have seen has amazed me and made me glad I was only involved in some of it…phew! I love the part where you get all the little kids together and try to get their names straight and get their photo without them looking scared to death. They are so precious and not able to talk to them in their language is a hardship.
Karen, watch where you go with Jim next!
