Wow, it’s Friday already. Time sure does fly when you are having fun. Joan and I have quickly been immersed into life back at HATS in the past few days. Joan has been busy being office manager, finance gate keeper, nurse (pink eye, infection, cuts and abrasions – nothing too serious), play room monitor, home work helper and typist for Luckner.

I, on the other hand, have been enjoying my vacation without DG and TiDG giving orders. I failed miserably in the main job I was given but in my defense I was given bad Intel and bad numbers. Anyway job done and we are back in the groove. There is always a job list; a toilet or a sink leaking, busted door frame, bench repair, swing repair and building school food shelving to give me the appearance of being busy. There were some school laptops that also needed to be restored to a happier time as a result of some overzealous student. All good!! The shelving had bits of leftover wood and the future engineers at HATS were busy building and creating.

Every day is a workday for the employees and house mothers. There is a constant stream of cooking, cleaning, homework tutoring, laundry, disciplining, loving and teaching going on 24 hours every day.

TiFi has had a rough winter health wise. We were able to get her via wheelchair to devotions regularly until a couple of months ago. But now she cannot sit up unaided and has toppled over and bumped her head on a couple of occasions. It was decided to build her a solid chair so she can sit outside and be safe. My design and building of the Artibonite Chair (which is now under patent pending) weighs a ton and will not fall over. We brought a chair pad and proper seatbelts as well.

Shall we have lunch on the sun porch darling

It has been hot hot hot and humid this trip. SO hot that we have only played hockey once!!!! By the time it cools down around 5:30 the rain starts so no hockey. The advantage of this weather is it is mango season. The rules for kids and the mango tree on the compound is they are not allowed to throw rocks or knock the mangoes off. They have to wait for them to fall. However…

Anne waiting TO CATCH a falling mango with a length of pipe. True story – right Anne?

Stay tuned.

It is not fair that you have that much heat and us NONE! If I was there I would be using a peice of pipe too but I would be a bit more aggressive than even Anne! Ha
Love the pad and seat belts for TiFi’s chair.
Keep up the good work. Did you do the early morning Saturday walk today?

Oh yes we had a wonderful hour and a half walk. Smaller group as a couple of older boys stayed home because I would not let them pick the route. Today Judel was tour guide. Joan walked and returned incident free!! Good times indeed.

I always knew Anne picked up more than just her good manners and sunny disposition from my visits. Her ingenuity and resourcefulness knows no bounds.
