Well, well, well … Look who is back!!

Well, well, well … Look who is back!!

October 27, 2017 Posted by Keith Wight 6 Comments

Here we are once again. After a fabulous summer or travelling, walking, visiting family, motor cycling, golfing, spoiling grandchildren and meeting our grand-daughter Joan and I are back at HATS. We arrived in Port au Prince on Tuesday afternoon to discover there was no vehicle or driver for us – he had gotten on the plane we arrived in and headed to Montreal!

But Karen had a plan and soon 10 bags, and 8 people were in a 5 seater car and headed to the auto repair shop to pick up the mission truck. An uneventful (by Haitian standards) 3 hour ride to the compound and there a glorious welcome awaited us. Kids hugging and singing and Karen was pretty happy to see us too.

Arrival

There was another familiar face as well Jocelyn arrived at HATS a couple of weeks ago and will also spend the winter working with Karen. She is a ray of sunshine, happy, energetic, friendly and accommodating. She is a huge asset for Karen and a wonderful addition to help with all the kids. I wasn’t aware that she has also set us a small repair shop in Haiti doing electric motor repair. Wow, what a talent

Jocelyn Shop

After all the hugs and talking and catching up we put the kids to work dragging our bags to the mission apartment. Happily there are no child labour laws here in Haiti.

Then the task of rounding up all the kids and getting them to go home!

I have had a sneak preview of my to- do list and it looks like I will be busy and Karen adds to the list hourly. Oh Oh a truck just arrived with plywood. Back to work!

Stay tuned.

~Keith

How good to see and hear you back in Haiti. Hope we overlap in January.
Have fun but keep asking Karen for more work, I hate to think of you sitting there bored with nothing to do.
Tell Jocelyn we are impressed with her new business!
