HATS Update

Website & Blog Updates

Blogs are being posted more infrequently now as the HATS website and blog site is undergoing important changes by a capable lady in Calgary. A big thank you to Lynn for her work on improving our website.

Prayer Support

Thank you for the prayer support for our sick children at HATS. The children – all besides Ti Fi – have improved. Please continue to pray for Ti Fi. She is not well at all. She can no longer stand, sit or do anything. She has no control over her bladder or bowels. It takes two employees to clean her up many times throughout the day. This is extremely difficult for our house mothers as they have 17 other children to care for. Additionally, for the next few months HATS will be short one house mother as one after the other they will be on vacation.

Thank you for your prayers for Luckner as he continues to handle a myriad of my tasks including all of his own along with the illness of our children. This school year has just ended and now Luckner has to start preparing for the next one in September. Another blog coming soon about the school.

Canada

While all this is going on at HATS, Ti Luc and I are keeping busy in Canada. We spent valuable fun time with Liette and family in Calgary. Ti Luc had several important medical appts there but for the last nine days we have been enjoying time in BC with Dana and family. This even included a road trip to Victoria – my first time in 20 years. Ti Luc was amazed and in awe of the – B I G boat – (ferry) that took us to the island. He said he wants to tell Todd about that ‘Big Boat’ when we get to Springdale.

Before going to Haiti in 1995 for a ‘planned period of one year’ my dear friend, Pat in Victoria, gave me space in her basement crawlspace to store belongings. Now ‘twenty-one years later’ Dana went to Victoria with me to remove all the boxes, go through them, take loads to thrift stores, the dump, and some back to her place in Kelowna. A huge and difficult, physically and emotionally, job taken care of. One I could not have done on my own. Thank you Pat for allowing my ‘1 year storage period’ to become ’21 years’. I will return to Haiti feeling better because of getting this done.

During our short and busy two days in Victoria I was blessed by being able to see a few friends I had really hoped to see. Soooo nice to see Pat and Henry, John and Debbie, Norah and Frank, and Claudia. My friends, whether we had an hour or so, or a few minutes, together I was thrilled to see you again. I look forward to Ti Luc and I being able to return another year with only relaxation and visiting in mind. When we can get back it will include a visit to see friends Eric and Val in Comox as well.

Now to celebrate the wonderful country of Canada. Thanking God I am a Canadian. Thanking him for all my family and friends here.

May God bless you all.
Karen
